Fives takes part in testimonies in robotics and automation furnishing organized by UNIFA and Symop
Christophe Abry, Sales Director of Fives Cinetic, presents the expertise and experience of Fives in integrating robotics for furniture companies.
In the timber industry, the robot can be used for many applications such as stacking, trolley layout, storage, sorting, processing, packaging, etc. The constraints are numerous and parts are very fragile. However, if the integrator has the right expertise, the robot will adapt well to a wide variety of parts and will optimize the speed of the workflow.
Because this is, indeed, the challenge of robotics in the non-automotive sector, which provides excellent return on investment: the flow processing implementation of means of production. In fact, implementing in a flow the means of production which reached their critical threshold removes handling operations performed by operators who have a certain limit in terms of processing capacity and a high running cost.
The key to success is not to overlook the pre-project phase, which requires taking the time to articulate the customer needs to the integrator: involve all stakeholders at the customer (maintenance, production and industrial IT) and to choose the right integrator.
Finally, robotics will question all the processes already in place in a production workshop. It is therefore strongly advised to integrate the robotic process gradually to avoid excessive technological leaps. The qualities of a successful robotics implementation are: Flexibility, Reliability, Availability.
